President's Message

By Tad Shibata, Stockton Buddhist Church president

On February 13, 2010, three cars were broken into during a funeral service. This happened around 3:00 p.m. The cars were parked in the southwest parking lot. The area of the former Kingsley house along Kingsley Avenue. Barbed wire has been installed, but we must be aware of the problem. A car alarm went off and the security guard came over to investigate and saw someone running away. The driver’s side window was broken, but nothing was taken. A few suggestions to prevent looting:

1. Lock your car.
2. Do not leave valuables in your car.
3. Keep the latch to the trunk "off" so no one can open it from inside of the car.
4. Do not put anything in your trunk when you get to the temple. People are watching behind the fences. Place these items before you arrive.
5. Be aware of your surroundings. If you see anything unusual, let the office know.
6. Something New – Do not leave your purse on the front seat when you are driving. When you come to a stop sign, people are breaking the passenger side window and taking the purse.

The BCA Shinran Shonin 750th Memorial was held on February 27 and 28, 2010, at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. In honor of this special anniversary observance, the BCA has designated the Jodo Shinshu Center in Berkeley, California, as the commemorative project. Please make a donation so we can pay off the debt for the Jodo Shinshu Center. Envelopes with donation forms are at the Temple office. Your donation will also count as a contribution to the Campaign BCA – The 21st Century. Please get involved, so our children
